Bass guitar virtuoso, composer, and one of the most prominent masters of Lithuanian jazz, Leonidas Šinkarenka has been on stage for more than 45 years. Having debuted in the ensembles of Vladimir Chekasin and Petras Vyšniauskas and performed in the band “Džiazo nublokšti”, he became one of the key figures of the country’s jazz scene, later successfully developing projects like “Vilnius Jazz Quartet”, “Lithuanian Jazz Trio”, and a solo career as a leader.
The musician’s discography includes over 60 albums, and his touring geography spans more than 100 international festivals across Europe, the US, and Asia. In 2014, his group “Jazz 5” performed at the legendary London club “Ronnie Scott’s” opening for jazz star Billy Cobham. For his contributions to Lithuanian culture, L. Šinkarenka was awarded the Birštonas Jazz Festival Grand Prix (2006) and the Medal of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas (2008).
The project “Jazz 5 N” blends traditional and modern jazz elements into a dynamic, technically impeccable, and ever-changing musical fabric.
